Ayesha Gilani

Ayesha Gilani (born March 2, 1982) is Miss Pakistan World for 2009. Gilani won the pageant on the 27th of June 2009 in Toronto, Ontario. Gilani is now going to represent Pakistan in various international pageants. Gilani was born in Lahore, Pakistan and as of 2009 resides in Washington, D.C. Miss Pakistan World 2009 Ayesha Gilani won the Miss Pakistan World title on the 23rd of June 2009 in Toronto, Canada, where the Miss Pakistan World pageant gets hosted every year, which was started by Sonia Ahmed. She was also awarded the Miss Congeniality 2009 title as well. International Beauty Pageants In August 2009, Ayesha Gilani represented Pakistan in the world's 5th largest pageant - Miss Tourism Queen International 2009.
 However, Ayesha Gilani did not win any of the main titles, but did receive a certificate for being a runner up for an Elegant Contest within the pageant. In November 2009, Ayesha Gilani represented Pakistan in the world's third largest pageant - Miss Earth. Pageant websites and critics did claim her to be a hopeful candidate in the top 16 for the Miss Earth 2009 contest. Gilani, brought a lot of hype and media for Pakistan in Philippines as well as in the international pageant industry, but did not make it to the top 16 in the Pageant. Ayesha Gilani is also a beauty colourmist for the largest South Asian Media Portal in North America and Europe. She heads the Beauty and Fashion column for its SouthAsian.com. In the past Gilani has been a beauty and make-up columnist for Sapna Magazine in United States of America. In September 2009, Ayesha Gilani was noted in the news when she met President Musharraf in Washington, DC USA.

Miss Pakistan World 2009, Ayesha Gilani

Standing 5 feet 7 inches,  Ayesha Gilani competed in the world's largest beauty pageant- Miss Tourism Queen International 2009. Just a month after a 10 day drilling in Miss Pakistan World on the 27th of June in Toronto, Ayesha Gilani has flown over to Shanghai to compete with 81 beauties from around the world.

From Lahore, Miss Gilani received her Masters in English from Washington DC.

Miss Tourism Queen International was founded by Mr. Charlie See. Since 1949, there have been more than 80 countries occasionally holding this competition for their Miss Tourism National Queen. In 1993, the Miss Tourism Queen International Organization held the first world final competition in Sri Lanka, and later in USA, Russia, Brazil, Germany, Japan, Singapore, and many other countries as well. Miss Tourism Queen International contests have been held in China for six years from 2004 to 2009.

With the mutual benefit between Miss Tourism Pageant and the Tourist City, this event attracts full support from different circles in the society, and the special involvement of the press and TV media. With around coverage from about 250 journalists and over 50 TV media's broadcasting, Miss Tourism Queen International serves as an international platform for the involved regions, tourist cities, tourist products, and fashion and luxury goods.

Miss Pakistan World has sent delegates to over 20 international pageants in just under 7 years, winning various sub-titles. Gilani, won the Miss Congeniality Award as well as winning the pageant at the 7th Miss Pakistan World pageant that was held June 2009. Gilani will be the 4th representation for Pakistan since the pageant started 5 years ago.

Sonia Ahmed, President of Miss Pakistan World said, "It is very important to keep Pakistan's pageant industry alive amongst all the turmoil Pakistan faces on a daily basis. We are dedicated to prolonging the pageant industry and keeping it as active as possible. With Ayesha Gilani going to international beauty pageants, this shows that we are still going head strong."

When asked about how she feels representing Pakistan on such a large scale, Ayesha Gilani said, "I am so honored that I have got this title and am representing Pakistan, as it is today Pakistan needs a very moderate and liberal representation for the world to see. It is in my hands now to educate the 81 countries about my nation and remove stereotypes about Pakistanis. I will try my best and hopefully those 81 representatives can go further and change their little world about us in their respective countries. I am proud to be the 7th Miss Pakistan to step out and compete for an international representation for Pakistan. We are doing something different and hopefully whatever little I can do to contribute I will do so. Winning is not very important to me, but being there wearing my country's sash is what I'm looking forward to."
